Bulgaria and North Macedonia to finalize electricity and gas contract 

The electricity and gas contract with Bulgaria is being finalized and its implementation is expected to begin from January 1 next year, through the expanded capacity of the intersystem gas connection “Kyustendil-Zhidilovo”, it will be possible to import larger quantities of natural gas from various suppliers. said the chairman of the Macedonian-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce Kiril Lazarov.

We were extremely dependent on Russian gas, but now we have opportunities to get other gas besides Russian, to provide ourselves with greater opportunities, said Bayram Redzepi, executive director of “National Energy Resources”, North Macedonia.

He outlined the idea of ​​the Republic of North Macedonia getting the opportunity to use capacity from the Bulgarian gas storage facility in Chiren, as well as the negotiations to purchase a share of the liquefied natural gas terminal in Alexandroupolis.
