Lukoil to transfer all activities to Bulgaria

From January 1, 2023, the Russian owned Lukoil will transfer all its activities to Bulgaria and will report its revenues and accordingly pay its taxes.

We are conducting an active dialogue both with Lukoil Neftochem and with all traders and fuel producers, importers and exporters. We have achieved a very important step forward. We have reached an agreement from January 1, 2023 to transfer all of their economic activity to Bulgaria, that is, all revenues and taxes from their activity to be paid in Bulgaria, and not as it was before – in the Netherlands or Switzerland. This is the result of our active dialogue and the common efforts we have undertaken together. This is fair, because after this refinery is in Bulgaria , it works in Bulgaria, it employs 1,300 people, most of whom are citizens or residents of Bulgaria

Hristo Alexiev, Minister of Transport

The refinery processes Russian oil and Bulgaria received a derogation from the European oil embargo and will be able to continue importing the raw material after December 5. However it is not entirely clear whether we will be able to export the processed products to the EU or to third countries.
