Transgaz begins assessment procedure for hydrogen transport capacity in Romania

The state-owned company Transgaz, which operates the national natural gas pipeline system (OTS), has initiated a preliminary procedure to assess the demand for hydrogen transport capacity in Romania. The company is currently awaiting responses from potential producers, consumers, and traders.

We urge all prospective hydrogen producers, consumers, and shippers to submit their requests, detailing production, consumption, import, export, and the need for cross-border hydrogen transport through Romania. The applications received will play a crucial role in shaping the potential developments of the hydrogen infrastructure.

stated Transgaz.

Entities interested in this opportunity can submit their non-binding requests for hydrogen transport capacity to Transgaz until September 15. Transgaz plans to release the results of the market demand assessment reports within six weeks after the application submission period ends, but no later than November 1, 2023. These reports will pertain to interconnection points and will be coordinated with the adjacent TSO doors, according to the company’s statement.
