Serbia and the EU signed a financial agreement for an energy aid package in the amount of 165 million euros

The financial agreement for an energy aid package from the European Union to Serbia is a concrete example of the EU’s solidarity, which will help vulnerable families and entrepreneurs to fight the energy crisis, the head of the EU delegation in Serbia, Emmanuel Joffre, said today, BTA reported.

This aid will support Serbia’s energy security, support the energy roadmap and its goals, as well as the transition to green energy, Joffre said.

He also recalled that a gas interconnector is being built between Serbia and Bulgaria, which will be completed by the end of the year.

After the signing ceremony of the financial agreement for the EU energy support package for Serbia, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that Serbia is largely dependent on the European Union and cannot move forward without it. He said that the aid, for which a financial agreement was signed today, is within the package of 500 million euros for the Western Balkans.

This aid will help poor people to be able to pay a lower price for electricity, noted the Serbian president.
