Turkiye started to receive gas from Black Sea Sakarya field

The Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that Turkiye is already receiving gas from Black Sea Sakarya field.

The start of Black Sea gas supplies is an important step for Turkiye’s energy independence. Initially we will produce 10 million cubic meters per day. Once the project reaches its full capacity we will be able to cover 30 percent of the country’s gas needs

Initially, it is planned to produce about 10 million cubic meters of gas per day from the Sakarya field, i.e. from 3.4 billion to 4 billion cubic meters per year.

Black Sea gas deliveries to Turkish consumers were scheduled to begin in March. However, due to the devastating earthquakes in the south-east of the country in February, the authorities were forced to reconsider these plans.

Previously 320 billion cubic meters of natural gas were discovered in the Sakarya gas field.
